What is a disappointments room? I found this picture to be insulting to the intelligence in almost every single way. It’s a sense that although you may currently be living in a world of constraints, if you were free from those constraints, you would be able to do all sorts of things.

There’s something very old fashioned in the world we live in.

Whether or not I agree with what they’ve done, I want that effort there—I want that sincerity.

The acting is like rotten wood. The Disappointments Room is a 2016 American psychological horror film directed by D. J. Caruso, written by Caruso from a script by Wentworth Miller, and starring Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido as a couple in a new house that contains a hidden room with a dark, haunted past.

At least one or two chases are extended enough to create minimal tension. This is a solid debut film. I realized all of a sudden that I had access to something that was interesting, that the rest of the world couldn’t write about, because I was the one there. When we’re shooting we just don’t think about it.

Not the predicate, not the tangent. Before that I’d never paid any attention to directors, but there I was taking a crash course in Ozu, Kurosawa, Naruse, Truffaut, Renoir, Fellini.

If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed. As a result, the picture is like store-bought soup: if not without flavor, it is missing a memorable personality, spices that make the dish pop or taste special. And yet I think that it exists as much as the capacity for kindness and it’s only the best of us that are able to suppress, sublimate, re-channel and so forth these baser instincts, but I see them to some degree at play as a regular part of life in very subtle ways and not so subtle ways. Laurie believes that the politically-inclined Judge Carpenter used the disappointments room to keep his disabled daughter Ruth secret from the outside world. He first found a child's old letter block in a small cupboard that was hidden near the ceiling in the basement. Beckinsale appears to have one emotion, whether it be her character meeting her new neighbors or when she believes that an apparition is about to kill her son. Why should we care about these people?

There’s nothing fun about a “disappointments room”, which is basically a room where families used to hide their kids with disabilities.

A lot of times you are going to have to get out there and make it happen.

Meanwhile, the picture comes alive about a third of the way through—almost thirty minutes in—when it is revealed to us what’s really going on in the heavenly Asilo Del Mar. Although the work tackles the dangers of group-think and conformity on a superficial manner, it is consistently entertaining.

But Dana’s discovery of a secret room unleashes unexplainable events that test her sanity and slowly reveal the home’s terrifying past. Wide opening of $1.4M on a $15M budget, looks like the real disappointments room is the box office.

The story and subject are dealt without comedy or melodrama; like life, it just is.

As the real owner, Laurie Dumas, shared the story of her home's strange room with her coworkers at the library, a patron overheard and offered an explanation for the peculiar attic room. Dana decides to look through the keyhole, revealing the window and a room. What you want to do is you want to put your audience off-balance.

I was mesmerized by “L’avventura” and by Antonioni’s subsequent films, and it was the fact that they were unresolved in any conventional sense that kept drawing me back.

The premise involves a secret room in the attic of an old house, which its new residents discover has a dark history. We take note of Autumn’s strained home life, how she is treated in school by her peers, how unhappy and angry she is, her complex relationship with her cousin Skylar (Talia Ryder) who supports her decision to abort the fetus, and who the father might be. They are mostly lost and trying to find the right door to open and they end up opening the wrong doors. (Much like his counterparts in that reality horror-show franchise, Raido is an eminently forgettable husband.).

“Jaws” is scary because of what you don’t see, not because of what you do. Directed by Sergei Bodrov. I’m just trying to tell a good story and make thought-provoking, entertaining films.

Just when they find themselves powerfully attracted to members of opposite sex, they have to really crack the books. Not only did many of these individuals suffer direct emotional and physical abuse in institutions, their special needs were never met, and they were denied dignity, choice, and were given little respect.
