The rational conclusion would be that he and his wife would go to prison for murder themselves, especially after the last one, and would really be much more horrible people than the criminals were, and deserving of their punishment. but i wouldnt call this a horror film. You’ll have to judge for yourself, as I did. I haven't watched the original version but this remake may be better. Live TV is available in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia only. So the daughter is raped and shot, but her doctor dad saves her. Due to streaming rights, a few shows play with an ad break before and after. i wasnt invested in any of the characters, except the boy, on a marginal level. I had seen this movie mentioned in a book and wanted to see it.

Alleca's original script included elements of the supernatural, which prompted the studio to reject it and bring in Ellsworth to perform a rewrite. This is definitely not for the faint of heart and at times really hard to watch because some parts are excruciatingly painfully sad to see such heinous acts but the ending definitely makes up for it.
It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. When I first saw this film on tv I found it disturbing and settling to watch the rape and murder scene of the two hapless girls.
Overall, it was an okay film.
It has been a while since I watched the original movie, but I recalled the daughter dying in the rape/murder, and it being much more violent and sadistic. I have to give proper credit. Nevertheless, the parents, who are both "normal" as far as can be seen, go out of their way to brutalize and torture the girl's attackers. Besides the obvious brutal parts of the movie that are so painfully hard to watch, the ending is phenomenal and well worth watching the movie through to the end. This one falls into the latter category, Hollywood remaking the seminal 70's & 80's horror film, Texas Chainsaw, Hills Have Eyes,Nightmare on Elm St, Evil Dead, I could go on.
Not that kidnapping/rape/murder is pedestrian, but there was no torture or other overly sadistic acts involved.
