The weirdest thing about (One) isn't that it sounds generic but that it sounds generic according to the standards of 1996, not 2006. Includes Album Cover, Release Year, and User Reviews. For all the world, (One) sounds as if it could have been released in 1996 when MTV and the airwaves were inundated with bands that took the dour, heavy sound of grunge, cleaned it up, gave it a touch of classic rock formalism, and then coasted by on tattoos and piercings instead of hooks or melodies or even angst. The entire album is very strong but highlights include the cracking opener "Teahouse Of The Spirits", the awesome guitar riffs in "Left To Lose", the dark feel of "Bloody Mary", the epic vibe of "Awake", the party groove of "Said You'd Be", and the amazing layered vocals of the final song "Lie Next To Me". Janes Addictions groove was always much deeper than that and I was hoping not to see Mr Navarro get lost in Hollywood and all its crap. Saw this band live but had not heard of them previously.
