On the morning I was told I would find out, I walked down five flights of stairs to my mailbox. It’s been about two weeks since I found out I failed. I was around 60% correct on all the simulations I was doing prior to the MBE and I think I was probably around that on the MBE. Scores came out, passed by miles. Your marriage may end, you will lose beloved family members and pets, you may have an illness or an accident, your house may burn down, they may cancel Mad Men. But the people you help will know that. That’s the shit that pisses me off.

And a little envelope meant you passed because it would just contain a letter of congratulations. The Bar Exam has absolutely no bearing on whether or not you will be good at being an attorney. Eventually I stopped and I got back on the horse. It messed with me because if I guessed wrong on a majority of them I was so screwed.

Maybe give that one a pass. Lots of people feel like they bombed the MBE because so many times all you can do is narrow it down to two possible choices. Since bar results for some states are finally starting to roll out and I'm freaking out waiting for mine, does anyone want to share stories on how they thought they failed but passed? You’re probably going to be pretty gun shy and the idea of trying things is not very appealing to you right now. So you want to pass the bar exam? Let’s face facts, for a lot of you, this is probably the first time you’ve really failed at something. I left the exam feeling like I just flipped a coin to pick an answer 200 times. I needed 660 to pass the New York bar exam. Move on to the next plan. Don't gauge your success or failure based on how you feel about the exam. So I am overjoyed for them. It was weeks of second guessing my essays, then realizing it didn't matter because I had blown the MBE questions. Even after reading lots of peoples' stories about how they felt terrible after but still passed, I was sure that I was the exception and had definitely failed. Finally, they normalize the current score with some past score that acts as the base score. Awesome, I know.
